The mission of Special Olympics New Hampshire is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Anne Tufts, Occupational Therapist and Lori Carmichael, Speech Pathologist are the coaches of the team. We also have peer coaches from the High School that volunteer their time as a community service. All of our volunteer coaches are screened through Special Olympics New Hampshire to be official volunteers.
Our athletes participate in Track and Field events for Summer Games, which are held at the University of New Hampshire. The athletes participate in Snowshoe and Ice Skating for the Winter Games, which are held in Waterville Valley, NH. Prior to each Games, we hold practices after school at the Elementary School few days a week for at least 8 weeks.
