April 11th Parent's Information Night for Kindergarten Registration

posted Mar 15, 2018, 10:49 AM by Brenda Collins   [ updated Mar 15, 2018, 10:56 AM ]

 Dear Families of Incoming Kindergarteners,

We hope our process for getting you acquainted with the Kindergarten program is both comforting and informative. This letter outlines this process, including timelines, to-do’s, and forms to fill out. The best way to stay apprised of information is to share with us your email address, if you have not already.

We will be holding our Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, April 11th at 6:30pm in the NES cafeteria. This meeting will let you get to know a little about our program and provide you the opportunity to meet our teachers. It will also let us get started on some of the paperwork and details needed to enroll in the district. We request that this meeting be attended by parents/guardians only please.

We will be holding our Kindergarten screening day on Friday, May 18th. This day is designed to help us provide a program that best meets each student’s needs and to create academically balanced classes. Each student will be assigned a time to participate in an hour-long screening program hosted by our teachers and specialists. More information about specifics will be shared when it becomes available.

For the evening of April 11th, please fill out:

  1. Registration form
  2. Exchange of information form (list pre-school or others we may need to contact).

Also on April 11th, please bring:

  1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate
  2. Immunization record
  3. Proof of residency

If you are unable to attend on the 11th, please bring these materials to the school by June 4, 2018, so we can be prepared for school in the fall. If your child is already enrolled in our preschool, we will only need an update on immunizations.

A complete medical examination, by a licensed physician, is required within 12 months of entry to public school (form is enclosed). The immunizations listed on the medical form must be completed prior to school entry. (This completed form is due at school no later than August 62018). We cannot give students a class assignment without proof of up-to-date immunization status.

Enclosed is a Kindergarten placement form for your input. This will provide us information that, along with your child’s screening information will help us place your child in a classroom.

We look forward to meeting you and your child. Your child will be in great hands and will have a wonderful Kindergarten experience at Newmarket Elementary School.
