The Newmarket School District believes that the health of the school community is of utmost importance.  We are committed to providing a school environment that protects and promotes the health and well-being of our staff, students, and their families.  Scientific research indicates that proper nutrition and physical activity has a positive effect on a student’s academic success as well as fighting childhood obesity.  By providing access to healthy nutritional choices, education, and fitness activities we hope to encourage a lifetime of health and wellness.

National Walk to School Day  October 7th- Will you participate?

International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October. Today, thousands of schools across America – from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico – participate every October.

Instead of taking the bus or driving to school, try walking. If you don't have a safe path to school, plan to meet up with a friend that lives on a safe route to school or get dropped off at the elementary school, SAU or other areas in town that have sidewalk access to school and provide a safe walking route.
