GRADE ONE

Outcome: Students will use current hardware and software efficiently and effectively.

Benchmark: Student will demonstrate appropriate keyboarding skills.
  • The student will be exposed to the location of the letters and numbers.
  • The student will be exposed to the location and use of shift, return, escape, delete, space bar, and arrow keys.
Benchmark: Student will be able to use computer software programs.
  • The student will become familiar with at least 2 types of software.
  • With guidance the student will insert a disk or CD to start a program, or find a program on the menu and click to start.
  • With help the student will run through a program, using appropriate commands and exit it correctly.
  • The student will use the mouse correctly.
Benchmark: Student will have knowledge of computer hardware.
  • The student will be given direct instruction in the names of: monitor, keyboard, disc and CD, printer and mouse.
  • The student will be given direct instruction in the proper care(food, drinks, magnets, dust) and handling.
  • The student will be exposed to turning the computer on and off.
Benchmark: Student will use a word processing program.
  • The student will be introduced to: open a file, and save a file.
  • The student will be given guided practice in using the mouse to move cursor in document.
  • The student will be exposed to deleting text.
  • The student will be introduced to select/change font, size, style.
  • The student will independently select print command.

GRADE TWO

Outcome: Students will use current hardware and software efficiently and effectively.

Benchmark: Student will demonstrate appropriate keyboarding skills.
  • The student will use the following keys independently: shift, return, escape, delete, space bar, and arrow keys.
  • The student will use punctuation marks. ( .,?, !)
  • The student will use Caps lock.
Benchmark: Student will use a word processing program.
  • The student will independently open a file, and save a file.
  • The student will be introduced to create a file.
  • The student will independently use the mouse to move the cursor in a document.
  • The student will be introduced to: scrolling through a document, and deleting text.
  • The student will be introduced to : select/change font, size and style.
  • The student will author a piece of writing using various applications, which may include; a letter, story, biography, autobiography, thank you note, or a poem.
Benchmark: Student will use computer software programs.
  • The student will use skills learned on familiar software in order to be successful with unfamiliar software.
Benchmark: Student will use KidPix to be introduced to a presentation.
  • The students create a presentation with six slide.
Benchmark: Student will have knowledge of computer hardware.
  • The student will demonstrate proper care (food, drinks, magnets, dust) and handling of equipment.
  • The student will turn the equipment on and off independently.

GRADE THREE

Outcome: Students will use current hardware and software efficiently and effectively.

Benchmark: Student will demonstrate appropriate keyboarding skills.
  • The student will begin to use a keyboarding program to learn home row and correct hand placement.
  • The student will use the comma.
  • The student will use the tab key.
Benchmark: Student will use a word processing program.
  • The student will create a file.
  • The student will scroll through a document.
  • The student will delete text.
  • The student will be exposed to spell check.
  • The student will be introduced to select/change fonts, size and style.
  • The student will author a piece of writing using various applications for example with inventions, information and reports.
Benchmark: The students are introduced to presentation software.
  • The student will learn the basics of a presentation by generation a slide show "All about me"
Benchmark: Student will be able to use computer software programs.
  • The students are exposed to various online interactive programs
  • The students will use Internet Resources
Benchmark: Student will be introduced to Web 2.O applications.
  • The Student will be shown various Web 2.0 applications.
Benchmark: Student will have knowledge of computer hardware.
  • The student are introduced to computer hardware terms.

GRADE FOUR

Outcome: Students will use current hardware and software efficiently and effectively.

Benchmark: Student will demonstrate appropriate keyboarding skills.
  • The student will master the home row and correct hand placement.
  • The student will begin to become familiar with location of all letter keys and correct hand placement.
  • The use of function keys will be introduced and guided practice will be provided.
Benchmark: Student will use a word processing program.
  • The student will be introduced to Cut/Copy/Paste text.
  • The student will be introduced to Spell Check.
  • The student will be able to work with Select/change Font, Size, and Style.
Benchmark: Student will use a spreadsheet program.
  • The student will be introduced to Cut/Copy/Paste text.
  • The student will be introduced to Spell Check.
  • The student will be able to work with Select/change Font, Size, and Style.
  • The student will learn to enter data into cells and generate a graph.
Benchmark: Student will use a presentation program.
  • The students will generate a presentation based on classroom teacher request.
Benchmark: Student will have knowledge of proper internet use.
  • The student will be exposed to proper use of the internet.
  • The student will be exposed to proper search engines and critera
Benchmark: Student will learn be introduced to computer vocabulary
  • The students will be introduced to weekly computer terms.


GRADE FIVE

Outcome: Students will use current hardware and software efficiently and effectively.

Benchmark: Student will demonstrate appropriate keyboarding skills.
  • The students will demonstrate working knowledge of the location of all keys.
  • The student will demonstrate working knowledge of function keys.
Benchmark: Student will use a word processing program.
  • The student will Cut/Copy/Paste text.
  • The student will use Spell Check.
  • Independently the student will Select/change Font, Size, and Style.
  • The student will be introduced to thesaurus.
Benchmark: Spreadsheet
  • The students will review prior knowledge of spreadsheets.
  • The student will be shown how to make a timeline.
  • The student will learn how to generate graph and chart.
Benchmark: The Student will learn more advance skills for generating a Presentation.
  • The students will chose a famous American and will make it into a Presentation.
Benchmark:Students will learn Research Skills on the Internet
  • The student will learn to judge a website.
  • The student will learn how to site a website.
  • The student will learn to generate keywords.
Benchmark: Student will have knowledge of computer hardware.
  • The students will be learn computer vocabulary.
