Great Stone Face Award

The Great Stone Face Book Award is given each year to the author whose book receives the most votes from fourth through sixth graders throughout the state of New Hampshire. Each year a committee chooses 20 recently published titles and the students vote during National Library Week. At Newmarket Elementary School, students who read 15 or more of the 20 nominated Great Stone Face Books were rewarded with a special lunch in the Library with Mrs. Stern. Pictured below are the students read 15 or more of the books and came to the lunch.

Thank you all for participating!

5th Grade Library Aides

I am excited to announce the addition of an optional Fifth Grade Library Aides program to the Library Media Center. It is a time where fifth grade students are encouraged to consider donating twenty minutes of their time each week as a volunteer in our library.

This year the library will be open for Fifth Grade Library Aides before school on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00-8:20 am. Students will be taught basic library clerical skills and help with the daily library routines. The goal of this experience is to foster a passion for community service within our students and ownership of our shared space.  The fifth grade students can come any Thursday or Friday that fits their personal schedule. I am so thankful for their help and dedication.

New Technology

This year we have added a new SmartBoard and Projector to the Library Media Center. We are actively incorporating these tools into our lessons every day!

Volunteers

I am looking for adult volunteers to help in the Library Media Center. Extra hands are always welcome and needed to help check-in, organize, and shelve library materials. I am very flexible with scheduling and have a wide variety of availability.

Please let me know if you are interested in helping in our Library Media Center! I have extra NES Volunteer Paperwork for those who have not yet filled it out.
