Reye ’s syndrome is a very serious disease. Children and adults develop Reye ’s syndrome as they are getting over a viral illness such as the flu or chicken pox. It can develop 3-5 days after the illness begins. It is not contagious but is easily overlooked and can lead to liver and brain damage. Watch for continuous vomiting, loss of energy, confusion, personality changes, combativeness, and convulsions. Call your doctor immediately.

*******Do not use Aspirin or Aspirin containing medications during an illness because they have been shown to cause the development of this disease.*******
